There are times, as most writers and artists of other stripes will no doubt agree, that you find yourself in a creative funk and struggling to find the time to actually work on anything creative. But a further complication is that, when you finally have the time spare, it can feel as though you are forcing the creative act and trying to get something down in whatever form simply for the sake of it and not because the true urge has taken hold.
I'm glad to be able to say that I seem to have emerged from both stages of this problem, and that my issue now is having too many ideas to be able to work on them all at once. I keep seeing images around here that just make me want to drop whatever it happens to be that I'm working on and start an entirely new piece right there and then. I am trying to resist this urge for the most part, but there are a couple of fragments kicking around that may soon have company.
If you're at all interested in what I'm brewing up at the moment, I decided that I might take an unprecedented step, for me at least, and post a rough list of the stuff that I'm either working on currently, have completed to a certain stage or am thinking of getting started on. You can regard this list in whatever way suits you best, either as a guide as to what to expect in the coming weeks (or, let's be more honest, months), titbits to get you interested and let me know what you're interested in or not, and so on.
So here goes, in no particular order or ranking:
- A continuation of Danny62845's tale of a scientist turned into a mermaid as a result of a botched classroom experiment, her subsequent kidnapping and rescue.
- A new addition to the "Cerulean Blues" series, involving a nefarious mobile-phone app that has a nasty habit of leaving its victims as the residents of balls.
- The diary of a voluntary applicant to become a human/motorbike cyborg.
- A magician in search of a woman who wouldn't turn her nose up at the prospect of becoming a miniature mermaid on a semi-permanent basis.
- A reality TV show in which a body-modification clinic bears more resemblance to a custom mechanic's shop.
- A research assistant who accidentally volunteers to bridge the gap between the human and the Orka.
- A spoilt pop-star who receives some transporter-based surgery for which she did not ask.
- The consequences of a woman, widowed by war, and invoking an ancient law that allows her to give up her humanity for something else.
- The story of how a certain red-headed and water-obsessed girl ended up as a mermaid in a pocket-ball.
Hope there's something for most of you in there.
Let me know what you think.

Seriously, now I can't submit stories!
As if the changes made to this place weren't bad enough already, now I find that, when I go to submit a new story, there's no option to upload text. No problem, I think, I'll just use a PDF version of the file instead. Not everyone seems to be able to read them on here, and it's a bit more of a hassle, but at least some people will get to see it. But then I find that I need to submit a preview image to then submit the PDF file, yet when I try to do so, the site just ignores the files that I try to use. So if you want to know or care at all about why I haven't posted anything around here recently, DA just gave me another very good reason to think twice before I try to do so again. The changes were one thing, but this place used to be a quick and relatively easy forum on which to share my work. The aims of the people in charge seems to be the wish to make this site no longer viable for me to use in that way - which makes me sad, as it's been an important part of my being able to reach
How in the hell does DA even work now?
I'll admit that I've been away from here for a while now, popping in whenever I had the time to do so. And as a result of my absence, the news that DA was switching to a new format was not something that I could properly digest. But having just tried to use my account for the first time in a while, I have say that I've got no idea how these changes make anything better or even allow me to continue to use my account at all. Navigation seems to make no sense, search results can't be effectively filtered any more, notifications are now apparently a permanent thing, and I can't add a single thing in my notification list to my favourites any longer. In short, these changes have made DA almost useless to me now, and I'm wondering what the point of even trying to get back into the swing of posting around here would even be. Is there any help out there?
Social Distancing means Distanced Socialising...
I'm sorry to have been absent from DA for a while now, but the world just seems to be conspiring against me when it comes to my online presence in places like this. I don't need to mention how weird and unfamiliar things are for all of us right now, but I do want to assure anyone that's interested in my work that these are the main reasons for me being less than active on here recently. I have not deliberately scaled back what I'm doing and posting on DA, and I still have a number of private commissions in the works or circling the airport that my workload resembles right now.
Currently I'm juggling the realities of social distancing, home-w

Sometimes that happens to me too, writing ideas don't come to me easily and I have to kind of grind out a story, or so many ideas come to me, at least in bits and pieces, I sometimes think it might be years before I get to them all, if I do at all (I do have to work at a 'day job' !
