Nuckelavee - Part 1

When the War came it took everything that had once been, the people, the land and all of the names by which they had been known, leaving behind only a hollow shell of a world in which there remained legends and shadows of what once was. The survivors emerged from hiding to reclaim the land, but there was never any hope of rebuilding the world as it had once been, and so a new order emerged from the ashes and chose for itself a new direction.

But some things are not burned by nuclear fire and the degenerative effects of the fallout that still poisons the earth serve only as nourishment to that which calls the most inhospitable regions its home. Those few small enclaves in which humanity has been able to carve itself a niche and begin to grow again live in constant fear of what might one day come hunting along the borders of their territory, hungry for the chance to find prey which is not hardened to the realities of the wastes.

The walls of Glen Duil are newly built, but not even they are formidable enough to be a comfort against the memory of the last time that the Nuckelavee came out of the wastes, the terror that it brought with it and the price that was paid in human lives before it was driven back beyond the outermost limits of the settlement.

But now the call of the creature has been heard once again, carried on the night air, announcing the return of the Nuckelavee.
